Genetic Testing Proving Hereditary Child Health Concern

Every so often you meet a family with a story that is simply heartbreaking.
Have you ever heard of Medical Kidnapping?
It's a real and dangerous phenomenon.
It is known that children are being removed by Child Protection services throughout Australia when a child is diagnosed with non-accidental fractures by medical staff at a hospital or a range of other claims by zealous officers.
One family friend is a GC barrister and this is an area he specialises in and his horror stories break my heart. Routinely it cost about $300K to fight and get your kids back. The strain and stress is unquantifiable.
Here is a story by one such Gold Coast mum who is a loving member of our community.
Two years ago, their world changed forever.
In our community, a young family is fighting the overreach of government agencies accusing a couple of causing injuries to their child during a hospital visit and having the child taken by agencies.
They took their four-week-old first born son to the hospital emergency department after noticing his arm had suddenly gone floppy. They were terrified and desperate for answers. But instead of being supported, they were accused of the unthinkable.
Their baby was found to have multiple fractures internally but no external bruising— and without investigating the full medical picture, authorities accused abuse.
He was removed from their care and placed in foster care. Which started a complex expensive legal process to prove their innocence!
This was a process of "guilty untill proven innocent" but the parents were not allowed to undertake private genetic testing. When mum became pregnant with a little girl shortly after, the newborn was ripped from the mum's hospital bed simply because there was an ongoing open case and the first born brother was removed.
They have fought tooth and nail to prove their innocence. They have spent over $170k to date and the doctor involved in the accusation has been known to falsely accuse others too.
A complete nightmare. Mum was gaslight at every turn. All her medical decisions including a home birth and natural minded approach to health including not vaccinating were completely turned to insinuate a lack of discernment, medical compliance and incompetence. Then they claimed it was the father that was abusing them all so badly she had no insight.
They have been fighting for two long years prove what they have always known — they did NOT harm their children and there is a genetic issue
What the parents Discovered:
With the help of world-renowned medical experts, they uncovered vital truths that were completely overlooked in the early days:
• Both mother and baby were found to have severe vitamin D deficiency, known to impact bone health
• The mother was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) — a genetic condition that can cause in-utero and birth-related fractures
• Experts carefully reviewed X-rays and confirmed the fractures occurred before or during birth, not from abuse
Despite this, Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) — a powerful tool that could reveal key genetic causes of bone fragility — and bone density (DEXA) scans have still not been completed. These tests could provide even more clarity and support for the medical truth we’ve fought so hard to uncover.
Where They Are Now
After a long, exhausting battle, the children are finally being returned to their mother — a moment we’ve waited so long for. That return is expected to happen in the coming weeks.
But there’s one more heartbreaking hurdle: their father is still being shut out.
He was charged early on in the case and nearly took a plea deal — until the more recent medical evidence showed clearly that the fractures happened before or during birth. Still, without winning at trial, he cannot be part of our children’s lives again.
In the last year the children's father experienced the removal of his kids and being false accusations of abuse. He suffers from severe PTSD. Did you know a swat of police knocked his door down to arrest him under false allegations claiming he injured his child. - he has panic attacks when people knock on his door now. He then moved in with his sickly mum who promptly died. This led to the children father having a nervous breakdown. The impact just keeps compounding and it is heartbreaking.
They absolutely need to fight this injustice.
Medical Kidnap is real — and it’s happening in cases just like this
The most common medical kidnapping incidents involve:
• Fractures — which are frequently caused by underlying genetic or metabolic conditions, not abuse
• Shaken baby syndrome — often a medical condition presenting with the same triad of symptoms used to diagnose SBS
• Parents who challenge or decline medical treatment — especially in cases involving invasive procedures like chemotherapy, where refusing recommended treatment can result in being reported
• Medical mistakes made by hospitals — where the blame is shifted onto parents, such as in the recent Hanburys case that made national news
In order to defend themselves and fight their cause they need to raise funds for legal support — including lawyers, a barrister, and their international genetic expert witnesses who are willing to testify on our behalf. The total cost for the trial is $30,000, and we still need $5,000 for the critical genetic testing.
Why We Need Your Help
Their family has been judged not only on misunderstood medical signs but also for their way of life.
They have been labelled and penalised for being “alternative” — choosing home birth, breastfeeding, a natural, low-tox lifestyle, and not following conventional systems. These personal parenting choices should never be a justifications to suspect harm or remove children — but in their case, these factors compounded their dynamic.
They are sharing their story because no other family should have to go through this. They are so close to bringing their children home and setting the record straight — but we can’t do it without help.
How You Can Help
We are raising $35,000 to cover:
• $5,000 for Whole Exome Sequencing and bone density scans
• $30,000 for legal representation and medical experts to attend the trial
Every donation — no matter the size — helps. And if you’re not in a position to donate, please share our story.
We believe that with your support, we can bring this family back together, clear an innocent father’s name, and stand up for truth in the face of injustice.
Thank you for helping uniting this family
