Due to ongoing Russian aggression, this winter the people of Chernihiv Oblast in northern Ukraine are facing a grave humanitarian crisis.

As temperatures plunge well below freezing (-24°C was recorded just days ago), communities across the northern regions are enduring repeated power outages caused by continued attacks on energy infrastructure and the immense strain on local networks. For families with children, elderly residents, and people with medical needs, losing electricity and heating in these conditions is not an inconvenience — it is a life-threatening emergency.

Kent With Ukraine — a grassroots UK-based organisation that has been actively supporting the Chernihiv region since 2023 — is now urgently raising funds to purchase and deliver emergency portable generators to frontline communities in the north of Ukraine.

These generators will be used in community settings to power emergency heating, enable the boiling water, and to keep people in rural communities connected through phone charging and battery packs when the grid fails.

Night after night, northern Ukraine is hit by drones and missiles. These deadly weapons deliberately target homes and critical energy infrastructure. Often, children wake to explosions, and then the power goes out. In these freezing conditions, cold becomes deadly.

Having recently returned from Ukraine, the founder of Kent With Ukraine has witnessed first-hand that this is not just war — it is systematic terror against ordinary civilians. Russia is using the winter as a weapon against the people of Ukraine.

It is vital that we come together to help keep people warm, safe, connected, and alive through the harshest months.

Drones. Missiles. Blackouts. Freezing nights.

Chernihiv’s civilians are being terrorised and left without power in deadly winter conditions — and action is needed now.

Kent With Ukraine has booked a lorry to depart the UK next week filled with vital medical and rescue equipment. We now need your urgent help and generosity to purchase emergency portable generators to support shelters and communities - some who have been without power now for over a week.

If we meet our fundraising target over the next few days, your support will enable us to purchase up to 15 portable generators which will be in Ukraine next week — helping one of the regions hit hardest by this brutal war.
