There's never been a love so strong. From the first moment this gentle giant stole my heart.

But on February 3, 2017, the bravest of souls faught his final battle. After many years of dialysis, multiple heart attacks, loosing both of his legs, suffering several strokes, and so much more, it was simply time to say goodbye.

Arriving in Seattle over ten years ago, he built a wonderful life and became the father figure to dozens of young people and a friend to everyone that crossed his path. The example he showed, and the lessons he taught will carry on forever in the lives he touched. He loved Seattle, and Seattle loved him.

However, Maryland was always where he called home. He would talk for hours about his old stomping gounds and when he'd meet someone from Maryland they would become instant family. So often when he's see a young football player on TV he'd shout out "Hey I couched that kid!", or when a familiar town came across the screen he'd light up and talk about all the crazy memories he had.

It was Gene's wish to go home one last time and it's my dream to get him there.
We will be carrying him back and holding a memorial in his honor so the hundreds of friends he's left behind can come together and toast him one last time.
Please help with whatever you can so he can rest in eternity where he belongs.
