Toward the end of July, our father began feeling weak. He was tired more and couldn’t lift things the way he used to. In August, it was more noticeable. By mid-September, his weight loss was noticeable and he wasn’t eating as much. He couldn’t walk very far before becoming exhausted and needing to rest. He went to the doctor and was told his cholesterol medicine was probably causing the issue. Over the next month, even though he was no longer taking the medication, he continued to get worse. On October 18, 2018, our father was diagnosed with ALS. Our family was there together to receive the diagnosis. It was a devastating day. This is moving very fast and our dad had to immediately stop working. His plan to retire next year and still drive bus and work at the dealership is gone. Our family is trying to process the grief of what our future entails, while trying to prepare for the tough road ahead at the same time. We have strong faith and know that God is holding us through the journey to come. Medical costs, along with equipment and adjustments to the house he will need, will quickly overwhelm. We are asking for any help to offset the financial strain that is coming. If you can’t give, please say prayers of strength and peace for our dad and mom. Our future has changed in an instant, and every prayer and thought is a blessing. Thank you.
