Hello everyone! For those of you that don't know me my name is Jessie and I am a proud trans woman of color.
As many of you know (or don't know), I have been medically transitioning for almost 3 and a half years now. I am truly blessed to be living as my authentic self. However, in order to help mitigate my gender dysphoria I have decided to undergo some gender affirming procedures. This thing with gender dysphoria is that it does not stop or go away just because COVID, it is still very much persistent especially with an emphasis of the face and voice for Zoom calls.
As a graduate student at UC Berkeley it is difficult to save money for this procedure as a majority of my time goes to my studies and the money I do save goes to basic needs such as: rent, car payments, clothes etc.
Just to be transparent the surgery itself is about $6,000, the other $1500 of the money I am asking for accounts for the fees that GoFundMe collects and the remainder of the amount serves as a cushion for bills/rent for the time I will be recovering after the surgery.
I know we are all struggling at the moment with COVID, please don't feel obligated to donate if you are not in the financial position to do so (or don't want to lol).
