GENDER PROJECT

BERLIN 2022

Gender Project is a social photography project by Veronique Charlotte, an Italian visual artist and curator.

1000 STORIES DIVIDED INTO
0100 PORTRAITS FOR

0010 WORLD CAPITALS WITH
0001 GOAL EQUALITY

The photographs were captured during an hour-long intimate exchange of energy, in which the subject and the photographer voluntarily took an open and vulnerable position facing each other to discuss their understanding of fluency and identity .

The project starts from the etymology of the word Gender, which is only vaguely associated with sex and more widely associated from Latin to the word "KINDNESS".

Veronique's intention is to create a chain of multimedia exhibitions with visual and sound installations. Gender is a space open to all those who are happy to be part of this journey and to all those who want to share emotions, be open to discussions and make connections.

“As an artist in 2022, I have a responsibility to share and talk about the social problems of our current climate. I believe that face to face communication is being lost and the "virtual connection" is taking up more and more space in the real world. The world of emotions, feelings and words is a world that exists without the need for screens. "

For Veronique (artist) the exhibition poses the challenge of reflecting, collecting feedback and continuing her social research on how art facilitates human connections with different cultural contexts.

GENDER is an exploration of the practice of the therapeutic arts where photography is an instrument that allows the catharsis of the subject and the photographer.

In general, the project engages openly with the LGBTQAI + community, but also includes the heteronormative community since its foundation. The existing audience of this project includes the subjects of the photos and their personal networks. This project seeks to grow the network in an enriched local community.
