Lifesaving Gender Care for Trans Texans: Support Leigho
Donation protected
Hi guys!
My name is Leigho. I’m transgender and I’ve been transitioning for 7 years. I have been waiting to see what coverage I can get through insurance to have top surgery done, and I don’t have any coverage for this procedure; every day gets a little scarier for trans people these days. Doctors are fleeing their states, and I want to try and get this done before I’m possibly no longer able
A little more about me: I’m turning 24 in July, use he/they pronouns, and have a Dalmatian named Rocky Road . I live with my family, who are my biggest supporters in my life, and have 3 siblings who are my absolute best friends.
I like exploring and rock climbing, doing advocacy work, and building bridges of communication across gaps in communities. I do online education work and have been trying to save up to go back to school in Germany, where I lived when I was 16. I also love to go clubbing with my friends!
I was also saving to get my legal gender and name changed, but last August, Ken Paxton ordered DPS to begin ignoring court orders for these updates. At the time I write this, it’s February and stands unchanged. But I’ve gone by Leigho, a name my parents gave me, since I was 17 years old and have taken testosterone for quite some time. I have the written consent and approval of my medical care team to have these legal document changes, yet my right to access it has been taken away on a whim.
Although I’m sad I likely won’t be able to get my documents changed before I leave the country, I know that I can at least seek medical care and I hope that even if you can’t donate, you’ll consider sharing my story :) If you do, I already consider you my friend.
I hope if you don’t understand transgender people, you’ll consider reaching out to ask me any questions you may have - I never judge genuine questions! So much love to everyone, especially if you’ve read this all the way to the end
