Gender Affirming Surgery for Theo

Hi my name is Theo, and I'm so excited to finally be on the path to top surgery. I have known I wanted this operation for about 3 years now and have been trying to get there on my own. Following the frustration of jumping through hoop after hoop with multiple insurance agencies and feeling hopelessly stuck in a never-ending cycle of calls and disappointment, I have decided to just try and go the self-pay route. However, as with many things in life, doing this on my own seems daunting and impossible. I am turning toward my community and allies for support in this endeavor. As a black person socialized as a young woman it took many years for me to unlearn old habits and fight to take up my own space. Having this procedure would allow me to take a huge step toward feeling like myself and being able to present that unapologetic, and confident version of me to the world.

I spent a large amount of time appealing to insurance companies because of the costs of this procedure. After emailing with the surgery center and doing my own research I found I need to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of the surgeon, procedure materials, the surgery center, anesthesiologists, and fees and taxes on the money received from this platform. All funds received will be used on the medical expenses incurred from the procedure. Any additional funds will be reintroduced to the community in the form of donations to others seeking gender-affirming surgeries.
