Gender affirming surgery for Morwenna!

Heyy! My name is amy and I've put together this fundraiser on behalf of Morwenna, my partner. Wenna is looking to get gender affirming surgery in the (hopefully) near future — with your help we can change her life together!

Wenna will likely use the money from this fundraiser to fund a trip to Thailand where many of the best and more affordable surgeons are practicing. She will get to recover from her surgery in comfortable accommodation, alongside other trans people moving through the same experience. This will all cost around £15,000, but will differ based on the exact procedure, accommodation and travel arrangements that Wenna goes on to make so we may move the goal up or down as we go.

If you are reading this chances are you already know all this already — but the likelihood of her ever receiving this surgery from the NHS in the UK is close to 0. Trans healthcare is pretty much non-existent in this country, which forces us to find our healthcare elsewhere and from our own communities. The surgery Wenna is fundraising for is something she has wanted for a long time, and I know it will make a huge difference to her life!

Wenna deserves every joy, and to live her life with the body she wants, just like every single trans person! If you've seen the news lately you'll know that the rights of trans people in the UK are under attack. The violent things said by politicians and the media contribute to making our lives difficult, scary and exhausting. If you know Wenna, you already know how incredible she is — how she lights up the lives of the people around her, how she moves through the world helping those she meets, and how deeply she cares for her friends and partners. She started my own fundraiser before she ever thought about starting her own, and I know that she would have found it hard to ask for this help herself.

'There are no words' is a cliche phrase, but there really are none that could ever begin to describe the difference she has made in my life, and to the lives of so many others. She has helped me learn to love my own body and imagine a future for myself — its time we help her find these same joys for herself.
