Hi all!
I am updating this GoFundMe in light of recent political events.
Good news first! I was able to finally apply and be approved for AMIDA Care which will cover a vast portion of my Gender Affirming Care (PCP, Prescriptions, electrolysis, and some of my surgical needs I have chosen to look into while it is still
legal to do so.) This will help the burden that I have had to pay out of pocket the past year with precious funds raised through these past donations.
News of Urgency! Upon the events of last week and fear of what rights I might possibly loose as a trans person; along with potentially healthcare down the road, I have decided it would be wise to start the process of having my gender marker updated on all of my documents along with also getting all of my identification switched over as well. I am not sure how much I can have waived fee-wise or the exact final cost. My original plan was to just have my ID switched over for NY state and worry about the birth certificate/gender marker stuff later. But I am deeply worried and concerned this process will potentially become much more difficult or non existent with this incoming administration. This is simply the reality of so many other trans people in similar situations.
Being a Musical Theatre Performer, especially one who is mainly freelancing at the moment with a full time job...these are costs that I just simply do not have the funds/income/familial support to obtain. I know that I have set an extremely lofty goal, but this is all in hopes to over the next year have some of these things in process, set aside savings and gathering a team to help walk me through these next steps as I take a very huge step in my journey.
I am aware that these times and the holiday season are very tight for everyone. If you are not able to donate, sharing is also something that would be an extremely helpful task. This gofundme is another means in addition to the grants and other avenues I am looking/apply for. For anyone who might not be familiar with anything I might have listed above, in hopes to allow people to research on their own and see that many of these things are not actually JUST exclusive to trans individuals, but they are also means of gender affirming care that cisgender people seek out as well in order to feel affirmed in their bodies.

Thank you to everyone again who has taken the time to read this and thank you in advance if you are able to donate.
Much love,
Zachary
