Gender Affirming Care for Sam
Hi, my name is Sam (or Samantha, I'm good with both). I'm transgender and I've recently started transitioning to a more feminine appearance. So far, this has helped immensely with gender dysphoria and my overall happiness! Unfortunately, my hairline started to recede when I was 18. I'm 23 now, and I had hoped that treatment with finasteride and estrogen would correct my hairline. After roughly 6 months on these medications, my doctors and I have come to the conclusion that more treatment is necessary. The next step is a hair transplant, which involves using my own healthy hair follicles to replace the ones that have stopped producing hair. As you can imagine, this is an expensive procedure, so I appreciate any help you can offer. My hair transplant is scheduled for July 12th of this year. I think about my hair (and lack thereof) every day and simply the idea of having a full head of hair again makes me overjoyed.
In addition to a hair transplant, having bottom surgery would also make a huge difference to me. This may be partially covered by insurance since it is not considered to be a "cosmetic" surgery like the hair transplant, but the amount of coverage can vary widely. So again, your contributions are greatly appreciated. Bottom surgery requires a recovery period, which is why I'm pushing this off for the time being. It will take some planning to really work out the logistics.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for all of your support! :)
