Gender Affirming Care for Grey

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Grey, I’m trans non-binary and would really like your help to have the chest surgery I’ve been needing for a long time.

It has been very hard to find a surgeon who is fat-friendly, understanding of non-binary identities and can give me the results I want but I have finally found one! I am having a radical reduction/non-flat top surgery so that my body might finally feel like my own.

The price for this surgery is very high and I currently have half of what I need, so I’m asking for help from those who can chip in. Sharing this would also be a wonderful way to support!

I am most likely going to have the surgery in November and need to pay in full 4 weeks before so I don’t have very long to fundraise/save as the surgeon is retiring early next year.

I’ll also be doing some bookish related things to raise funds so keep an eye out for that. BENDER zine finally!

I’ve experienced discomfort and pain from my chest my whole life- binding isn’t really an option for me at my size but I do wear compression bras that alleviate some dysphoria but cause me other issues. Compressing aggravates my chronic pain and has caused folliculitis from chafing- not fun!

As you may know, the pathways for accessing this kind of care on the NHS are extremely limited- particularly as someone not wanting a traditional reduction or double mastectomy. Standard reductions are very rarely offered and would just take me from one very large size to another large sized chest. Trying to access trans healthcare is now almost impossible as more clinics are being shut down and the wait times being untenable are forcing people to seek private care. Trans healthcare can also still be quite binary, making non-binary people face scrutiny about their choices and presentation.

thank you so much for reading this + supporting, I appreciate you so much! Grey x

from Chris:
Grey is currently fundraising for their top surgery, as most of you know- trans healthcare can be so inaccessible, so we are asking folks to give whatever they can

You might know Grey from the grey area book club, other fruit bookclub or bender zine. They are doing amazing things for the creative queers in Manchester and put so much of their heart and soul into everything they do. Grey has fostered a brilliant sense of community through their projects, and it is valued so much.

More than that, Grey has been a brilliant friend, a welcoming and warm light in my life recently, they deserve the world truly!

If you can spare any cash it would be so appreciated, we all deserve to feel joy in our bodies and there is no one who deserves joy more than Grey

from Niamh:
Grey is one of the best people I know. Ever since I met them, I have seen how much they care about others, and how much love they have for the trans community. Every day they (try) and teach me how to be less of a hater and to have more kindness for others. They could literally make friends with anyone (it’s a real skill)!

This surgery would be really life changing for Grey and I have seen how much their life is impacted because they haven’t been able to access the health care they need. If you have any money to spare, I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more
