My name is Muffy, and I am personally asking you to donate to my friend Ariana's fundraiser.

I met Ariana 8 years ago, when she was 9 years old. Instantly, I knew she was awesome. Ariana is kind, funny, smart, and extremely special. She is a great artist. She’s into independent and classic films. She plans to become a pediatric nurse. Ariana also happens to be trans. She knew when I met her at age 9 and she knows now.

Ariana is now 17. Navigating the medical industrial complex as a trans kid has always been brutal, but due to the massive amounts of anti-trans legislation, particularly legislation aimed toward trans youth- this particular journey has only become more isolating.

Ariana and her (incredibly supportive and wonderful) family have been going back and forth for months with her insurance company regarding the medical necessity of technicalities around Ariana's future surgeries. To have her choices gate kept by corporations and political interests has been harrowing and in the meantime, Ariana's mental health is suffering.

Like many trans youth, not being able to access gender-affirming care increases risk of serious mental illness, body dysphoria, and suicidality. For Ari, this is life-saving treatment. We must get this funded, and we must get it funded ASAP.
