On October 23, 2020, Gena's life changed drastically when the husband of over a decade attempted to murder her in cold blood. Earlier this year, Gena decided to separate from her husband, Trent, in an attempt to regain her sense of self-worth & dignity-- after spells of cheating, fathering a baby outside their marriage, and multiple forms of abuse. During this separation period, Trent went through extreme covert & overt ways to stalk Gena to intimidate her from leaving.
On the 23rd, someone physically spotted Trent underneath the trunk of Gena's car, fidgeting with something while she was busy at work. When accosted by someone in the salon, Trent fled the scene. Later that evening, he returned to her work establishment to address the accusations of him messing with her car. When Gena decided to end the conversation to return to work, Trent belligerently swung the door open to enter the salon. He pushed her to the ground and pulled out his gun to shoot Gena. Attempting to flee him, he reshot her in her back and eventually grabbed her hair to deliver a shoot her in the face.
Gena fell to the ground in stillness while Trent struggled to fire the gun fatally. At that moment, a God-fearing witness to this heinous act positioned herself in between him and Gena, pleading the name of Jesus. Satisfied by his actions, Trent fled the scene again, where he made phone calls, stating he killed Gena and did not know if he could spend the rest of his life in jail. Later that evening, he was pronounced dead by suicide.
As a result of this attempted murder on her life, Gena lies in ICU recovering from her injuries sustained. She has had two separate surgeries to stop the bleeding & remove the bullet lodged in her cheek. The other few shots went in and out, leaving exit wounds in her breast, back, and shoulder. She has lost nearly all of her teeth and part of her gums.
Going forward, Gena is unable to return to work. She needs financial support for medical bills, dental and living expenses, as well as therapy costs. As always, prayers are ever needed and much appreciated.
On behalf of Gena, we thank you for the well wishes and support during this traumatic time. As things change, we will keep you updated on her status and recovery. Please continue to scroll down to see the aftermath of this unfortunate event.
*This page is governed by Gená's daughter, Aurellé Ross and all of the money donated to Gená's cause will go directly to her. Gena and her children currently still reside in their hometown of Atlanta, GA.
Monies collected from this fund will aid in the restoration of her face and oral surgeries. Gená has to have reconstruction surgery to graft bone from one part of her body, to replace where bone was destroyed from the gun shot wound to her face. Her surgeries will be in two parts, bone graft than implementing implants to allow her to smile again. Additionally, this money will be used to aid in a plethora of medical bills the currently surmount over $150K and growing. More so, it will be used for everyday living expenses due to her not being able to return to work. She has currently been denied disability benefits and has become the sole steward over the financial obligations of her deceased husband. Funds collected from this page may also be allocated to the upkeep of their estate.
