January 2017 my mom was diagnosed with Melanoma cancer. She was rushed into brain surgery the same day we found out. I got to spend 2 minutes with her in ICU before they took her into the operating room after driving 4 hours to get there. This day changed my life. This day changed my entire family’s life.
My mom’s name is Gena Attebery and she is one of the most amazing women I have ever had the pleasure of being in the same room as. Her heart is so kind and full of good. She is the Godliest woman I have ever met and she trust the Lord in every way. She hikes mountains, kayaks, runs 5ks, and just about anything else you can think of to do outside all while working full time and taking care of our family. She is a true super hero.
I need her here. I need her to tell me how to cook chicken and what medicine to take when I’m sick. I need her to tell me to manage money better and stop goofing off to much. I need her to hold me when I am upset and bring me back to reality when I’m too much up in the clouds. I need her to approve of the man I choose to marry and give me away to him when we say “I do”. I need her to spoil her future grandchildren by giving them to much sugar and sending them back home. I need her to be a part of my life because I am not ready to lose her yet. She is my light at the end of a dark tunnel and my north star when I’m lost. I need your help so I can have her for all of these things and more.
Her cancer treatments are expensive and we need some help. We are trying to go through a cancer organization in order for her to be approved for the medicine that will attack the cancer in her brain. Knowing my mom she would never ask for help. She would be the one asking if she could do anything for you. This time I am asking for help for her. I have started this campaign to help raise money so we can afford the treatment. She has to take three different kinds of medicines and this is the last one she needs. I know this cancer could take my mom's life, but this treatment means I get to spend more time with her and that’s something I'd give anything in the world for.
I'm not asking for everyone to donate. If you feel like you have a calling to we would be so grateful. If you don't I just ask you to share this. She is my everything and I don’t think I can do life without her.
Thank you.
