At approximately 2am on Monday April 5th the New Berlin Fire Department responded to a working residential structure fire with an attached garage that was fully involved on arrival. (The Firth's Home) Fire crews were able to quickly knock down the main body of fire in the garage and made entry into the home to search and extinguish any hidden fire in the walls and attic. Everyone got out of the house safely and no injuries reported.
From what the Firth's have been told it can be up to 9 months before they will be back into their house. We are looking for gift cards to local grocery stores/clothing stores or monetary gifts to help them out during this difficult time.
Per Sally:
Daniel Firth saved our lives. He woke us up, got us out and and woke the neighbors. He is a hero.
Our neighbors took care of the kids and the dog while we watched the New Berlin Fire Department bravely fight the flames.
The damage in the daylight was shocking, but everything we lost can be replaced. We have insurance. Lots of things to organize over the next few days.
We are at a hotel now. Trying to rest. Feeling love and support from hundreds of people around the globe.
The generosity is overwhelming. We don't know what we need, but when we do we will ask. We are still in shock, but we are okay and together.
Please consider donating to this awesome family. Gemma is a 7th grader and her brother Dan is a Senior at New Berlin West.
