Gelvy Abimael Velasquez Ortiz

Hello my name is Andrew, I am a restaurant manager in Santa Monica and I am asking the community to assist me and my team with raising funds for medical bills for my dear friend Gelvy Velasquez. On Friday night 6/2/23 Gelvy was waiting at the bus station on his way home and an unknown driver struck him and left the scene of the accident. He is now in critical condition and he has lost one leg in the process. Whatever assistance can be provided to help his family pay for medical bills will be appreciated immensely. UPDATE:

Since the accident Gelvy has lost one leg and is going through several surgeries to keep his second leg. He is 17 years old and is currently in the process of becoming a legal citizen. I’ve updated the goal for our donations to reflect what it would cost for a standard prosthetic leg. I’ve learned so much about my friend; his parents are living in Guatemala and he came out to the US to provide a better life for his family. Thank you all so much for the generous donations! All of the support everyone has given these couple days has been truly moving.
