Hello everyone! I'd to introduce you to my daughter Skylar Jhené Corn, born May 22nd at 4:38 AM. We started a go fund me page in hopes of raising some money to help with medical and travel expenses. This precious little girl has been dealing with multiple complications and challenges since birth. About midway through pregnancy doctors believe Skylar was diagnosed with aortic atresia. Aortic atresia is “Congenital absence of the normal valvular opening from the left ventricle of the heart into the aorta.” Due to her high risk of heart failure Skylar had to be born moderately preterm at 34 weeks. As days come along and doctors run test they found more complications with her heart and blood vessels. The doctors inform us that Skylar has a very unique anatomy of her heart and blood vessels which makes heart surgery very risky and extremely complicated to preform. After about a month later Levine’s Childrens hospital in Charlotte, N.C. informed us that was not a candidate for heart surgery. The doctors denied surgery for Skylar because felt the surgery would be too complicated and did not believe she would make it through the surgery. Skylar’s parents Dreamsy and Capri with the help of friends and family did everything they could to be advocates for Skylar. Levine’s children’s hospital also reached out to Duke hospital on our behalf but unfortunately it was no luck as well. Duke hospital also felt Skylar was not a candidate for surgery. Hearing this news really hit hard giving the parents a very hard time trying to understand why Skylar is being denied a chance to live. Finally we suggested Boston’s children’s hospital. We were very fortunate to find out that Boston thinks Skylar is a candidate for heart surgery. On Monday Aug. 10th Skylar was flown out to Boston. After running test and getting familiar with Skylar and her anatomy, in just a few days the surgeons scheduled surgery for Friday Aug. 14th. The surgery was a very long procedure taking about 10hours but everything went well with no issues.
Skylar is now doing great like nothing ever happened. She is such a strong baby. God has blessed the Corn family with so much support and love and prayers and we are asking for the kindness of anyone willing to help us in this time of need. If you are only able to send up a prayer for this newborn baby, we will appreciate it. If you could support my GoFundMe by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that anything would help us get closer to our goal! Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them. God Bless each and everyone of you and thank you for your time.
