When Life Changes Course: Supporting Geert's Journey
Have you ever met someone who changed how you see the world - not through grand gestures, but through genuine care and quiet wisdom? Someone whose impact on your life was so profound that you carry their guidance with you years later? For countless people around the world, that person is Geert.
For over two decades, Geert has been this transformative presence in many lives. As a coach, he has helped people navigate their darkest hours and discover their true potential. As a musician, he has composed pieces that touch hearts. But what truly sets him apart isn't his multiple talents - it is how he uses them to serve others, often choosing to help those who couldn't afford his services, simply because he believed everyone deserves support when they need it most.
In May 2023, Geert experienced what he calls the absolute highlight of his life - marrying his beloved Tina. Their joy, however, was soon overshadowed by life-changing news. After months of determined rehabilitation from a brain hemorrhage in late 2022, Geert spent most of 2023 focused on recovery. In February 2024, severe leg pain led to hospitalization, where doctors discovered a sarcoma tumor. After returning home in late 2024 and finally regaining enough strength to use a wheelchair in October - a milestone that brought such hope - he received another devastating diagnosis: a new cancer.
Yet even now, facing intensive chemotherapy and twice-weekly physical therapy,
Geert's spirit of giving remains unbroken. Between treatments, he's writing a crucial
book about the experience of brain hemorrhage patients - offering unique insights
into patient consciousness and awareness during this critical condition. This work
aims to support medical staff and families, helping them understand and better care
for their loved ones during such challenging times. When strength allows, he returns
to his musical compositions, finding purpose in creating beauty even in difficult times.
Your support will help ensure Geert can:
- Continue essential medical treatments and specialized physical therapy
- Complete his book to guide medical staff, patients and their families
- Maintain his ability to create music when strength permits
- Adapt his home environment to preserve independence
- Focus on healing without financial strain
Today, this remarkable person who has stood by so many others needs our
community's support. Every contribution, no matter its size, helps sustain someone
who has devoted his life to lifting others up. If you can't donate, sharing his story
makes a real difference too.
Together, we can ensure that Geert, who has touched countless lives with his wisdom
and generosity, can focus on what matters most: spending precious time with loved
ones, continuing his creative work when possible, and maintaining the dignity he has
always helped others find.
Will you stand with Geert as he has stood with so many others?
ABOUT Vincent and Nel
Hi!
We're Vincent and Nel, and we are organizing this fundraiser for our dear friend Geert.
As fellow coaches and freelancers, we understand the financial strain that comes
when illness suddenly prevents you from working.
We believe that by coming together as a community, we can make a real difference in
Geert's life during this challenging time. Having experienced the uncertainty of
freelance life ourselves, we know how crucial support can be when health issues
strike. We hope that anyone who has ever faced similar challenges - whether
personally or through a loved one - will understand what Geert and Tina are going
through.
We're reaching out because we believe in the power of collective support. Every
contribution, no matter the size, adds to the network of care that Geert needs right
now. Together, we can help someone who has dedicated his life to helping others.
Thank you for considering being part of this important cause.
