GeeFit for Jamaica: Rebuilding Lives After Hurricane Melissa
Hi everyone, my name is Guynamio Samuda (Sam), and I’m the owner and head coach at GeeFit Gym in Eastleigh, UK.
As many of you know, I was born and raised in Jamaica, and recently my home country was hit by Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest storms in recent history — with winds reaching 185 mph.
The devastation has been heartbreaking. Thousands of families have lost their homes, access to food, clean water, and basic necessities. Many still have nowhere to sleep or live. My own family and friends have been affected, and seeing the destruction has been painful.
That’s why we at GeeFit Gym are taking action.
We’re hosting a 24-hour charity bike challenge — cycling 185 miles per bike on two Concept2 BikeErgs — one mile for every mile-per-hour wind speed that tore through Jamaica.
