Geef Flynn een goed pensioen in Frankrijk

Flynn, mijn geweldige ruin van 9 jaar oud, worsteld al enkele jaren met een spierziekte. In de zomer met mooi en warm weer is het een enorm blij ei, altijd vrolijk en gezellig, altijd in voor een grapje of een buitenritje. Richting de herfst krijgt hij steeds meer klachten, en in de winter is hij gewoonweg ellendig. Het gaat voornamelijk om het vochtige en koude klimaat wat zijn klachten triggert..

Hij heeft ondertussen meermaals maagzweren gehad, welke ik onderzocht en natuurlijk behandelend heb. De kuur die bij hem goed werkt (cytotec) is tevens een van de meest kostbare, namelijk zo'n €1000 voor een maand. Natuurlijk zijn ook andere onderzoeken (bloedonderzoek, röntgenfoto's etc) uitgevoerd om niets te missen, maar die resultaten waren allemaal goed.

Ik ben al een jaar aan het nadenken wat te doen, want dit paard is mijn maatje, mijn familie. Ik ben afgereisd naar zuid Frankrijk om daar pensioenen te bezoeken bij Nederlandse mensen. 1 van deze locaties is een gouden plek. Een heerlijk mild, zacht en droger klimaat.. Dit zou ervoor kunnen zorgen dat Flynn zoveel lekkerder in zijn lijf zit, als hij niet hoeft te worstelen met vochtige herfst winters zoals in Nederland.

Ik heb niet de illusie dat hij daar elke dag op zijn best is. Maar als ik de 5 maanden die hij hier in Nederland ongelukkig is kan terugbrengen naar max 2 in Frankrijk, dan is het volledig de moeite waard.

Voor mij als baasje is het vreselijk heftig. Het liefst hou ik hem bij me. Maar niet als hij niet gelukkig is. Dus rationeel is de keuze makkelijk... Emotioneel moet nog even volgen. Ondanks dat hij naar Frankrijk gaat, blijft hij ten alle tijden mijn paard, en zal ik met alle liefde (financieel) voor hem zorgen en hem ook in Frankrijk meermaals per jaar bezoeken.

Nu begint het geregel. De planning is dat hij in het voorjaar naar Zuid Frankrijk vertrekt. Flynn verdient het allerbeste, en het blijkt een (voor mij) duur grapje te worden dit goed uit te voeren.. Denk aan transport (€1180 ex btw), NVWA keuring en export papieren (€400), een half jaar voorraad aan de juiste voeding en supplementen voor zijn ziekte (€200-400), en zelf wederom naar zuid Frankrijk rijden om hem bij te staan zodra hij de vrachtwagen af komt na een 12 uur durende reis (zo budget mogelijk alsnog €500 reiskosten door Tol en brandstof).

Mijn financiële buffer is uitgeput door alles wat ik afgelopen jaren voor mijn paard heb gedaan. De huidige maandelijkse kosten liggen rond de €550-600. Sparen is dus niet goed gelukt. Ik vraag niet snel om hulp, maar ik zou het nu goed kunnen gebruiken.... Wie zou me willen helpen met Flynn een goede start te bieden in Frankrijk? Ik beloof dat elke euro die deze gofundme oplevert naar mijn lieve paard gaat, die dit gouden pensioen verdient!

Flynn, my wonderful 9-year-old gelding, has been struggling with a muscle disease for several years. In the summer with nice and warm weather he is a very happy horse, always cheerful and sociable, always up for a joke or an outdoor ride. Towards autumn he gets more and more complaints, and in the winter he is simply miserable. It is mainly the damp and cold climate that triggers his complaints..

In the meantime he has had stomach ulcers several times, which I have examined and of course treated. The treatment that works well for him (cytotec) is also one of the most expensive, namely around €1000 for a month. Of course other tests (blood tests, x-rays etc.) were also carried out to not miss anything, but those results were all good.

I have been thinking for a year about what to do, because this horse is my buddy, my family. I have travelled to the south of France to visit pensions with Dutch people. One of these locations is a golden place. A lovely mild, soft and drier climate.. This could make Flynn feel so much better in his body, if he doesn't have to struggle with damp autumn winters like in the Netherlands.

I don't have the illusion that he is at his best there every day. But if I can reduce the 5 months that he is unhappy here in the Netherlands to a maximum of 2 in France, then it is completely worth it.

For me as an owner it is terribly intense. I would prefer to keep him with me. But not if he is not happy. So rationally the choice is easy... My emotions have to follow. Despite the fact that he is going to France, he will always remain my horse, and I will take care of him with all my love (financially) and also visit him several times a year in France.

Now the arrangements start. The plan is that he will leave for the South of France in the spring. Flynn deserves the very best, and it turns out to be an expensive joke (for me) to do this properly. Think of transport (€1180 ex VAT), NVWA inspection and export papers (€400), a half year supply of the right food and supplements for his illness (€200-400), and driving to the south of France myself to assist him (as budget as possible, still €500 travel costs due to tolls and fuel).

My financial buffer is exhausted by everything I have done for my horse in recent years. The current monthly costs are around €550-600. So saving has not been successful. I do not ask for help quickly, but I could really use it now.... Who would like to help me give Flynn a good start in France? I promise that every euro that this gofundme raises will go to my sweet horse, who deserves this golden pension!
