Through the ups and downs of a fast-changing world, first dates and break-ups, being out of work and starting new opportunities, there has been two constants in my life - Steve and Cafe Gecko.
"I’m just a bartender, how did I become the source of truth?" For many of us, Steve Petrarca is exactly that. Never judgmental, and always a sage bit of advice. He has been our real-life Jimminy Cricket, hat and all.
Now it's our turn to be there for Steve. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments, surgery, and doctor visits are very expensive, and they are even tougher to overcome when you are sidelined from work.

“Steve Petrarca and I were friends before he came to work for me way back in 1996. I knew his character then and I was thrilled to have him onboard. Fast forward 26 years and Steve is noticeably absent behind the bar today. There is an obvious void there today because what you see now is his trademark fedora on the back bar. Steve has become the character and personality at night at Café Gecko. It’s not the same when he’s not there. His quick to laugh and remembers everyone. Steve is a man of faith with a heart as big as Texas. Even though he’s a Pittsburgh transplant and it quick to point that out. Even if he can’t hear you because you forgot which ear he can actually hear out of. Everybody figured that out over time. Steve has more regulars and friends than can be counted, and now he needs your help. His health problems have sidelined him, and we need him back healthy. Living in and out of a hospital is expensive, and every bit of compassion would be greatly appreciated. I need Steve back. We all need him back.”
