Help GEaR bring lost WWII heroes home!
Please help us search for and recover three missing heroes from World War II, lost in a plane crash on Greenland's ice cap 75 years ago. Global Exploration and Recovery (GEaR) - a 501c3 non-profit - is raising urgently needed funds NOW to support our team's July 2018 mission to Greenland.
Our team of mountain guides, survival experts, educators, and scientists will travel to remote Eastern Greenland this July and conduct radar-assisted search operations on the glacier to locate the crash site now buried in the ice. The heroic story of the men missing in the crash and our efforts to locate them are the backbone of our engagement with students in classrooms across the country - teaching students about bravery, perseverance, heroism, and hope.
(The Grumman Duck departs the Northland on a rescue mission in November 1945 - it would crash with three aboard the next day)
Your tax deductible donation to GEaR will support critical aspects of our light and lean mission: permits and insurance, airfare to get our small team to Greenland, delivery of equipment and supplies overseas, helicopter transportation of personnel and equipment to remote search locations on the glacier, supplies necessary for several weeks of remote search operations, and the technology needed to remain connected to our team, the students and families following our progress, and our supporters.
With mission planning underway, funds are needed urgently to secure helicopter support in Greenland, without which our mission will be next to impossible. In addition to transportation costs, we will purchase insurance and the necessary technical equipment to safely and effectively conduct our mission.
GEaR is a 501c3 non-profit (EIN 814462745)
founded by a small group of mountain guides, survival experts and scientists committed to leveraging complex missions to bring history and scientific discoveries to schools, research institutions and the general public, while delivering on our promise to the families: that we will find these men and bring them home.
