Hello. My name is Dustin. I am not doing this fundraising for myself. A few people asked about a GoFundMe to help our daughter, Alexandra, after an auto accident early Friday morning.

By request and after first getting Sasha/Alexandra/Alex's permission, I have added one of unpleasant pictures to the bottom of this listing.  If you don't want to see it, it is okay to keep reading... there will be warnings preceding the picture.

Here's the details:

Alexandra (she goes by Alex) worked late Thursday, so she left work early Friday morning. On the way home a green truck moved toward her or into her lane on the interstate. As a result, her car hit the center barrier and flipped. This likely happened all at interstate speeds. The airbag did engage, but, from looking at the car, it landed and slid on the front, hood, and roof. Sasha (that's what we call her) appears to have been sliding on the ground and windshield during this event.

Sadly, the driver of the green truck did not stop and several other people drove by. One of them clipped the car after the accident.

Finally, two semi-truck drivers stopped. The first one thought she was dead. The second one, as I understand it, called 911 and us. I can say, without a doubt, that God was watching out for her. I couldn't sleep that night and at about 3 AM, I strongly felt that I needed to pray for her safety. A short time after that, the phone rang. My wife, had similar experiences. At any rate, the drivers that stopped were kind enough to use their trucks as a shield to keep Alexandra and her car from getting hit again.

The Damage

She is 'lucky' to be alive. I say 'lucky' as a word people often use; however, I believe it was God's hand of protection upon her. We are blessed she is still with us. She is very sore and in a lot of pain, as you can imagine from a high speed impact. There are multiple fractures in her face, her arm had an open fracture requiring a couple of operations, and she lost a significant amount of skin and flesh from her back, shoulder, and arm.

The Prognosis

There was initially talk from the doctors about possible skin grafts, several surgeries, and possibly surgery for the face bones; however, praise the Lord, that outlook has improved. The doctors believe the arm will heal best braced and that the face may heal on it's own. They are watching out for retinal damage. Skin grafts may not be necessary. They have adjusted the medications for her flesh/skin healing and indicated skin is already regrowing!

Why a Fund Raiser?

(1) Public inquiry, and (2) Unfortunately, Alexandra has no insurance to cover any of this. She had just spent most of her money on car maintenance and, due to recently starting a new job, she did not yet have health insurance. She thought she had uninsured motorist coverage, but in talking with the car insurance company, that appears to have been incorrect. So, any money received will be used to help with medical bills and/or a new vehicle (my vote is for one encased in 10 ft of bubble wrap).

I know that she would appreciate any help received as she will have to purchase some expensive skin ointments, fund physical therapy, etc.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Dustin

I have no idea which part of that is my daughter... which part is medications... and which part is whatever else they put on wounds.  I was told that it wasn't what they were looking for so they had to change medications.

The nurse said they had to do a lot of cleaning this painful morning, but the prognosis, overall, is still good.
