A beloved family member, Geane Araujo Trevino, suffered from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 42, which is a blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs, usually caused by a blood clot that travels from another part of the body, most often from the legs.
While in Sao Paulo, Brazil, visiting Geane’s family with her husband Ray Trevino and their 5-year-old daughter Gabby Trevino, they were set for a 10-hour return flight back to Dallas, Texas, on July 7th, 2025.
Minutes after landing, while getting off the plane, Geane suffered severe cardiac arrest and was treated immediately with CPR and defibrillation due to the pulmonary embolism. Paramedics who arrived on the scene and later by ER physicians in ICU confirmed that pulmonary embolism is a very common occurrence during or after prolonged sitting with limited or no movement on extended airline flights.
Geane is currently at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center hospital ICU unit in Grapevine, Texas, clinging to life support. Geane had also suffered kidney and liver failure, needing two pints of blood daily, along with severe brain damage due to a shortage of oxygen to the brain.
Ray is thanking God every day that Geane is still with us, fighting for her life, and he’s too humble to ask for any help from friends or family. So, I’m setting up this GoFundMe to help Ray pay for any medical expenses incurred during her ICU hospital stay, and/or travel expenses from Houston, Texas, to Grapevine, Texas, as well as any other needs arising during this unimaginable life-changing experience for his family.
Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated, and if you are unable to donate, please share this link with family and friends. But more importantly, the prayers you provide during these difficult times will also mean the most. Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me through the “Contact” link under "Organizer" on the GoFundMe website.
Thank you so much, and please keep Geane Trevino and our family in your prayers!
