Helping my brother….

Hello, my name is Abdul, although most know me as Abe or Dusay. I'm reaching out not for myself, but for my brother Jamal, who has faced an unimaginable loss. Within the past two months, we tragically lost both of our parents, he and his son lost all of their possessions.

Over the last three years, my brother has diligently helped our father renovate his home, where he resided with our father, his son's mother, and their child. Unfortunately, the situation took a drastic turn when our father and my nephew's mother fell into substance abuse. Concerned for his son's well-being, my brother made the difficult decision to remove him from that environment in pursuit of a better life. However, everything they owned was left behind in the house.

In a shocking turn of events, our father sold the house without informing anyone, resulting in the loss of all my brother's possessions. Everything inside that house held immense monetary and sentimental value to my brother. From all his clothes, furniture, and tools to his son's first baby shoes to family heirlooms, diplomas, and passports. It feels like a piece of our history has been erased. The pain of this loss is indescribable. Then, tragically, our father passed away less than a week ago, leaving us reeling from the suddenness of it all.

I'm doing everything I can to support my brother as he navigates this challenging new chapter, especially for the sake of his son. We're currently seeking housing assistance through HUD and mental health support for both Jamal and Joseph, but we need additional aid to help him rebuild their life. With limited family resources, I'm reaching out to the kindness of friends and strangers for help. Any support would be immensely appreciated.
