The Super Kids of San Pablo City
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Ethan and I'm a fourteen year old Filipino American who loves helping people. On June 10th of this year, I am going to the Philippines for the third time. Except this visit isn't going to be focused on just sightseeing and eating plenty of pancit and lumpia. My family and I are on a mission to vaccinate some of the children in the Philippines. If you donate to my program, 100% of the money will be used to purchase vaccinations and health care to the people of San Pablo City, Philippines (the city where my mother was born).
My last two visits to the Philippines were certainly an eye opener for me and made me opened minded of how privileged we are in America. On my second visit, I visited the city of Davao, located on the southern part of the Philippines. I was a naive 11 year old boy who didn't know the importance of drinking plenty of water especially in this hot and humid place. As a consequence, I became very dehydradated and had severe headaches and a fever. My concerned parents immediately took me to a pediatric clinic close by. When we arrived, there were numerous children who were also ill just as I was. When I was finally seen by the pediatrician, she examined the inside of my mouth with a flashlight. After, she suprisingly told me that she couldn't diagnose the problem due to the lack of medical equipment and supplies. My parents were quite distressed and decided that I should be taken to the nearest hospital except, there was one problem. The nearest hospital was about 4 hours away. To be safe, my parents decided we would go to the airport, hop on a plane, and fly two and a half hours to St. Lukes Hospital in Manila (934.2 miles away) to get treated. Once there, I learned that I had suffered from heat exhaustion.
I will never forget those extremely ill kids I left behind that day that were waiting only to have their mouth examined. Now that I have the chance to come back, I would like to raise as much money as I can byJune 8th, 2016 so I can help some of the children in the Philippines. If I can manage to raise at least $2000, I can purchase more vaccines to help immunize the children of San Pablo City from common childhood diseases such as polio, tetanus, and chickenpox. I am certain the children of San Pablo City will appreciate your donations. Thank you.
