Victor Mangal Memorial Fund
Donation protected

Victor was born in St. Lucia and met his wife Dorcas while they were both attending the same college in Guyana. They ultimately moved to the United States to pursue the American dream. Most recently, Victor served as a territorial manager for the oil company Global Partners LP, while his wife Dorcas is an ICU Nurse at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He was very committed to Zenell’s gymnastics and drove his family last year to Tennessee and back so she would not miss a meet. Victor also was very passionate about the sport of cricket. He played competitively as a young man in St. Lucia and then later joined the St. Lucia team of the Brooklyn Cricket League. He also served as an official empire with the USA Cricket Umpires’ Association (USACUA) and the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL), an organization that promotes student athletics in the public schools of New York City. If Victor wasn’t watching cricket or college gymnastics with Zenell on TV, then he most certainly would be watching his next favorite sport wrestling.
The Mangal family’s sudden loss of this man who was vibrant and healthy only one month ago reminds us to cherish time with our loved ones and to provide support in times of need. For the Mangal family, that time is now. Unfortunately, Zenell’s mom did not have the luxury of staying home when the pandemic swept our city. Tragically, she caught the virus and now is required to go back to her hospital in a couple of weeks because they desperately need her ICU nursing capabilities. In memory of Zenell’s loyal and loving father and in support of her mother who is one of our hero frontline workers, please join us in providing this family with some much-needed financial support. While we definitely cannot make it better for the Mangal family, we certainly can make it easier for them.
Please know that all proceeds raised will go towards funeral expenses, immediate needs of the family (e.g., rent, groceries, toiletries, etc.), and anything left over will be put into a college fund for Victor’s children (Zenell’s sister Lauren was supposed to attend college this upcoming September before this tragedy hit the family).
Please note that any size contribution to this fund would be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small. Please also note that your donation will be treated as a gift by the taxing authorities but will not be treated as a tax-deductible charitable contribution.
