GDS Walk the South Downs Way
This year GDS team has chosen the Childhood Tumour Trust as our charity of the year. It is a charity that is close to our hearts, as they have been hugely supportive to one of our team members and their family having recently received a diagnosis. Having heard about the fantastic work CTT do supporting children and their families, we wanted to be able to support them and help them continue their fantastic work.
So, what are we doing? We're going to walk 20 miles across the stunning South Downs on Friday 27th September. It’s definitely not a gentle walk though, taking in elevation of 1600ft over the length of it. With help from the support team throughout the day, we are hoping to complete the walk within 8 hours going from Ditchling Beacon to Alfriston along the South Downs Way.
A number of the team are planning a practice walk in early September, and we will keep you updated on how our preparations are going.
Please do support us if you can and help us raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity.
More information about Childhood Tumour Trust: We support children and young people with Neurofibromatosis Type 1; we offer youth camps for those aged 12-17, many of these children have never met anyone with the condition and are very isolated, camps allow them to be themselves - and feel just like everyone else. We offer online support for those affected by NF1, encourage get togethers by way of online children's parties and family days out, and give money to much needed research as well as campaigning for better care and diagnosis in the NHS.
