In the last two weeks, two fires have broken out close to Donkey Dreamland. The most recent came dangerously near our rescue centre and reminded us how quickly our animals could be put at risk.

Donkey Dreamland is home to rescued donkeys and other animals that have suffered neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Many have already endured so much in their lives, and we are committed to keeping them safe.

This winter's heavy rains have caused exceptional vegetation growth, increasing the fire risk. While we have worked hard to clear our land, many neighbouring private plots remain overgrown, creating an ongoing danger to the sanctuary.

Over the past few weeks, we have removed large amounts of dry vegetation, waste, and other flammable materials. We have also started strengthening our emergency procedures, but there is still more work to do.

That is why we are launching a fundraising campaign with a goal of €2,000.

To complete some of this work, we have had to temporarily close the sanctuary, which has also resulted in a loss of income.

€2,000 may not seem like a large amount, but for a small rescue centre it will make a huge difference.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us prepare for a safer summer and protect the animals in our care.

If we exceed our goal, any additional funds will go towards further fire prevention and emergency protection measures.

Today, we are asking for your help before a tragedy happens.

Because when the flames arrive, it is already too late to prepare.

En las últimas dos semanas, se han declarado dos incendios cerca de Donkey Dreamland. El más reciente llegó peligrosamente cerca de nuestro centro de rescate y nos recordó lo rápido que nuestros animales podrían verse en riesgo.

Donkey Dreamland es el hogar de burros y otros animales rescatados que han sufrido negligencia, maltrato o abandono. Muchos de ellos ya han pasado por mucho en sus vidas, y estamos comprometidos a mantenerlos a salvo.

Las fuertes lluvias de este invierno han provocado un crecimiento excepcional de la vegetación, lo que ha aumentado el riesgo de incendios. Aunque hemos trabajado duro para limpiar nuestra tierra, muchas parcelas privadas vecinas permanecen cubiertas de maleza, creando un peligro constante para el santuario.

En las últimas semanas hemos retirado grandes cantidades de vegetación seca, residuos y otros materiales inflamables.

También hemos comenzado a reforzar nuestros procedimientos de emergencia, pero aún queda mucho por hacer.

Por eso lanzamos una campaña de recaudación de fondos con un objetivo de 2.000 €.

Para completar parte de este trabajo, hemos tenido que cerrar temporalmente el santuario, lo que también ha supuesto una pérdida de ingresos. 2.000 € puede no parecer una gran cantidad, pero para un pequeño centro de rescate supondrá una enorme diferencia.

Cada donación, por pequeña que sea, nos ayuda a prepararnos para un verano más seguro y a proteger a los animales a nuestro cargo.
