I woke up on Saturday morning, and as I am sitting on the end of my bed trying to wake up, my house begins to fill with smoke quickly. I get my Dad out, who I care for and who has stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer, get out my children and our 3 dogs. Then I call the fire department. We stand watching our house turn into something we never thought would happen to us. The fire department says we aren't allowed back into the home until we get an electrician out to fix the house and deem it safe. That is a $350 deposit and every hour after that. The housing insurance said it could take a week. The only hotels I've found that will allow pets are $948 or higher, especially for a week. Then all our food is gone. I lost my husband in May 2023 and doing the best I mentally, physically know how. I am a prideful person, so to reach out for help is hard for me. I've reached out to Red Cross, which did give me a few hundred to see about getting a place for the weekend, but according to home insurance and other insurance, both require a $500 deposit before we can move forward. The fire department said it will be a week before we get the report, and we need that for the insurance companies. Please, may God bless you all!! Thank you in advance.
