Our family is facing a crisis we never imagined. Just weeks ago, Shannon Rachele Springer was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the hypopharynx, a rare and aggressive throat cancer. At just 54 years old, Shannon is now fighting for her life.
The cancer is advanced — it has already spread to multiple lymph nodes — and her treatment will be intense. She is preparing to begin a long and difficult course of chemotherapy and radiation, which will demand every ounce of her strength and resilience.
On top of this devastating diagnosis, we have recently lost our employment and health insurance. That means the financial foundation we relied on to cover the costs of treatment, medications, travel to appointments, and basic living needs has crumbled beneath us at the very moment we need it most.
Shannon is not just a patient — she is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She has always been the one to show up for others with unconditional love, warmth, and compassion. Now, she needs her community to show up for her.
We are asking for your help to keep our family afloat during this unimaginably challenging time. Every contribution — whether large or small — will go directly toward covering medical expenses, transportation to treatment, basic household needs, and the care that will give Shannon the best chance at healing. And if you cannot give financially, sharing this page with your network is a powerful way to help us reach others who may be able to.
Your generosity means more than financial relief. It is a reminder that we are not alone in this fight, that Shannon’s life matters, and that even in the darkest times, love and community can carry us forward.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with Shannon and with our family.
With love and gratitude,
The Springer Family
