Hi! :) My name is Stephanie. I'm here because I'm in serious need of dental work that I cannot afford and I need your help. I've only able to chew on the left side of my mouth since July 2020. This has caused intermittent pain on that side, and I can hear a weird grinding nose and can feel a slight pop in my jaw when I chew.
This has been a 17 year long nightmare that I'm hoping comes to an end and restores the part of my life that was lost. I had my braces on longer than I should have, and although they're gone, the damage is not.
After 9/11, my adopted father lost his business and went through a divorce shortly after that. I wasn't getting the proper orthodontic care I needed and I didn't do well with it on my own either, so here I am.
I ran away from home at 16, but I was fortunate enough to find a youth program along the way. They helped to get my braces off, but after learning about the damage my teeth suffered, I put it out of sight and out of mind for the sake of my mental health as I was already dealing with so much at that time.
I lost hope because I knew I wouldn't be able to afford the proper dental care that I needed. After years of neglect, I finally found the motivation to start healing.
I had a mental breakdown in November of 2019: my world was caving in, my mental health was equally neglected, and it was time to get myself together physically and mentally.
Being in a healthier mental space brought some hope back into my life, and that lead me to find Dr. Gwilt. He understood me, he took the time to truly help me which gave me hope that my teeth could be saved, and that I could finally smile again. He didn't give up on me, and with his help in my dental work I'm gaining the confidence to not give up on myself.
I'm almost there! With your help, I can finally close the chapter on this dental nightmare. Every donation counts and no amount is too small. I truly appreciate everything that everyone has done to help me so far and I'm almost at the finish line! Making this happen will truly change my life!
