David Watson Oberlin High School Scholarship Fund

David Watson was born and raised in Oberlin, Ohio and graduated from Oberlin High School in 1985. He was a great student and athlete who impacted the lives of many with his big heart, generosity, and witty sense of humor. David earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Cleveland State University in 1990 and spent his professional career supporting adults and children throughout various communities. David loved sports. As a student, he played basketball and baseball. He was known by all to be an avid Raiders fan and he loved coaching high school basketball.

David passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 following a lengthy illness. In his honor, a memorial scholarship fund is being established to help support future Oberlin High School graduates. The scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound African American male student-athlete who is hard working, respected by both his teachers and peers, and who understands and respects the unique value of the Oberlin community.
