On Tuesday 4/29 Cora was crying out complaining of side pain. Joe, Cora’s Dad, brought her into the clinic. Cora was scheduled to have a CT scan on 5/7 due to low iron. Joe was adamant there was something wrong & that they needed to do a CT scan now! Joe received a phone call before getting home with CT results showing a large mass on her right side. The doctor told him to bring Cora to Children’s Hospital right away. They headed there, where she was admitted and hooked up to IVs for fluids.

The next few days were busy for Cora including: a blood transfusion, MRI, bone marrow samples, biopsies, MYC-N, and more other tests.

Cora was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma L2. Cora had to start emergency chemo treatment due to the location of the mass. She will have many cycles of chemo, radiation & surgeries in her future. Cora has a very long road ahead of her!

*Neuroblastoma is a rare childhood cancer, that affects the nerve cells.

*Each year about 650-700 children in the US are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.

Joe is a single father to two beautiful children, Carson, 4 & Cora 3. Joe isn’t currently working due to being at Children’s Hospital with Cora. He is also driving over an hour one way to make frequent visits home to spend a little time with Carson.
