Vet Bills & Prospect
Donation protected
Hi yall.
On January 2, 2024, we lost our beloved Belgian Malinois, Hilo. He was two years old and in perfect health. He was my center of gravity.
In early December he presented to the vet and was diagnosed with pneumonia. He responded beautifully to medication and showed almost immediate improvement. Within three days he was back to his normal, perfect, anarchist self.
On January 2nd, Hilo went back to the vet for what we feared was pancreatitis or a flipped stomach. We were discharged without many answers but with an optimistic and clear plan for the next 48 hours. Later that night we rushed him back to the vet. He wasn’t getting better.
The vets did their best to stabilize him. He was on oxygen. They didn’t know what was causing his crash and everything happened so fast. I got to kiss his face if I didn’t nudge the mask. I told him I loved him. That we were so proud of him. To fight hard but if he couldn’t then that’s okay too. I thanked him for being my friend.
‘It’s okay my baby. Your mama’s here’.
His lungs were full of blood. Our baby couldn’t breathe. He coded. The vet said if we can get him back we need to put him down. He’s not going to come home. They couldn’t get him back.
Right now our world is moving very slowly. We are paying off vet bills in the hopes of finding a future service dog prospect. Hilo was task trained, but now, when I need him the most, I am alone.
If y’all have any desire to donate - all contributions will go towards paying off vet bills and saving for a service dog prospect.
Thank y’all for being here. And for loving our boy. He was perfect.
