G gets a power chair by graduation!

As part of my physical therapy clinical education our school, Marymount University, sends us to Costa Rica to work in orphanages for 2 weeks during our third year.  
I have just finished my trip and one of the patients touched my life.  

To protect his identity we are calling him "G".

G is a male teen with Muscular Dystrophy.  His personality is larger than a Futbol stadium.  His favorite team, the Costa Rican "La Liga" is what he loves to talk about with anyone who will listen.  Despite being in a chair when not in bed, he never stops smiling.  And his sense of humor is sharp... especially when messing with the American PT student who knows zero spanish.

G came to his orphanage when his family could no longer care for him.  The facility, run by nuns, where he lives runs on donations and it's a great place for him.  But, he is fully dependent, with only some active wrist, finger and neck control.

This means that he cannot move, unless someone else moves him in his current chair. 

A power wheelchair would change G's life.  The world would be his again to explore.

The cost of this chair is not anywhere close something the nuns that care for him can afford and that's where WE come in.  

If you wanted to truly change a life, on a very direct and personal way,  this project will do that.

I graduate from physical therapy school this May, and my goal is to put G in a power wheelchair by the time we walk across the stage to recieve our degrees.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

On my last day working with G, I told him, "I'll be sending you something."  This project will succeed.
