The Grundy County Amateur Radio Club will soon lose access to the 300-foot tower located three miles south of Morris which supports our Two Meter Repeater station on 147.270 MHz.  The 300-foot tower is soon to be decommissioned.

Currently the 147.270 MHz repeater is functional.  It provides many services to our immediate and distant communities. Over the years the repeater has a reliable 40-mile service radius for the many HAMs who live in and pass through the area. Storm Spotter communications and other emergency services routinely utilize the 147.270 MHz repeater, providing early warning of weather events to the greater northeastern Illinois and the greater Chicago Metropolitan area.

We have been operating the 147.270 MHz Repeater since 1987, funded by a few local Radio Amateurs.  Many Amateurs in the area have enjoyed the privilege of communicating with each other and practicing our hobby at no cost.

We are currently raising funds to relocate the 147.270 MHz Repeater and continue its long serving tradition of providing communications in the area.

We thank you for your consideration and look forward to your help in preserving the 147.270 MHz repeater operations.  We hope to hear from you on the 147.270 MHz repeater each afternoon at 4pm for the Health and wellness net.

Thank you.
