My father is a marine veteran. He’s the kind of guy who recently took two sick, stray kittens into his home so they wouldn’t freeze during the winter - and now he needs a hand.
My father recently underwent surgery for brain cancer. At that time I left my job so that I could be around to help with his care or to be available in case of an emergency - unfortunately, that emergency came after he experienced pneumonia and a minor stroke and fell. That morning I woke to him calling for help and found him on the floor covered in blood after hitting his head so hard his ear was partially severed. Since then he lost his job after a workplace accident and has been restricted from driving, challenges that are taking a huge toll on the family finances.
Any proceeds raised through this fundraiser will be used to pay for medical expenses, installing safety devices like railings in the home, and to supplement the lost family income.
Finally, I want to tell you a little bit about my dad because he shouldn’t be defined by his illness: my dad is proud of his service in the marines. Like most dads, barbecuing and smoking meats is his greatest hobby in life. He’s a huge fan of the show What We Do in the Shadows, and regularly watches classic westerns. He enjoys spending time with his grandson.
Thank you for your interest, and a special thank you for anyone willing to help in this hour of need.
