GBM research in memory of Paul Gaudet

Story

In early June 2018, we discovered a mass in our dad's brain. He was quickly diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumour (GBM). GBM is an incredibly aggressive and untreatable form of brain cancer.  About 3 in 100 000 are diagnosed in a year, with only 3-7% surviving the past five years. In the early morning of the 9th of February 2019, our Dad passed away. There are many brain cancers like GBM that are untreatable. The Gord Downie fund helps medical workers conduct groundbreaking research to fight this disease that takes many people far too soon.Dad was an avid cycler. He spent many days with our Mom and their friends cycling through Newfoundland's incomparable scenery. On the first anniversary of his passing, we held a cycling event to raise money for the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research. We surpassed our $1,000 target raising well over $2,500. Thank you to the many family and friends who showed up to the Ride to Raise at Bespoke Cycle.  This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we thought it best to move our fundraiser online. We have assembled a basket with donations from local businesses, with all proceeds going to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research.  If you wish to be entered to win the basket,  please include your name and email with your contribution. A special thanks to Found Consignment, Bespoke Cycle and Simply For Life St. John’s, Merchant Tavern, and The Duke of Duckworth for donating in our Dad’s memory. We will always remember our Dad for his kindness, generosity, integrity, love of family and friends, incredible prime rib and impeccable selection of wines.
