GBM Give Back Event
Donation protected
Firstly, thank you to my large network of friends and family whose prayers, support, and encouragement have allowed me to stand tall through it all. Secondly, I'd like to offer this as an alternative to those interested in supporting my fundraising efforts, but not interested in the jewelry promotion.
GBM, or glioblastoma multiforme, is a significantly misunderstood and ill represented cancer. Those diagnosed are often only diagnosed in the later phases, and given a life expectancy of about 10 months.
I was initially told my symptoms were stress related and anxiety induced. Then came massive seizure that took away my mobility and independence, leaving me with only a diagnosis I had never heard of. Then came the life expectancy of only 10 months, and the consideration that the required surgery may leave me paralyzed. I was told by medical professionals that my early death was inevitable and I needed to begin preparing for my overall deterioration from this cancer. Instead I chose to live by my terms.
I stand here telling you this is a diagnosis; it is not an identity.
I stand here asking you to join me in helping to raise funds and awareness of an aggressive killer that thrives off uncertainty and lack of investment.
I stand here asking if you cannot help financially, please help spread awareness so people who can make a #donation will and those #diagnosed or effected know they are not alone.
