Basal Cell Carcinoma

Donation protected
Hi, I am starting this go-fund-me for my step-dad, Tracy Replogle. Tracy was diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma in January, 2023. Initially, we didn't expect much to come of it because it is a fairly common cancer. The procedure to remove the affected layers of skin is a familiar one for dermatologists. Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common type of cancer and 80% of skin cancers are Basal Cell.

Unfortunately, when Tracy went for his proceedure on May 9th, doctors found that the cancer had grown beyond their expectations. It had spread through to his inner nose. Doctors had to remove much more than expected. When finished removing the cancer, Tracy was left with a larger hole than any of them had expected. Here is what it looked like following the first procedure:

Two days later, Tracy went back into the doctor's office expecting to have his procedure done to replace the missing skin. However, he learned that he would now require two surgeries to properly correct his nose. There was too much cartilage and skin missing for them to proceed as previously expected. The first surgery was scheduled for the following day, Friday, May 12th. Here is a picture of the progress following surgery:

They had to take cartilage from his ear and skin cells from his forehead to stimulate growth on his nose. When this completely heals, they will do a second surgery to finalize the rebuilding of his nose.

Today, May 15th, Tracy learned that he will have to be off work for at least two months. His line of work is too risky for infection so he must stay out of the machine shop where he works. June 22th, his doctors will evaluate his progress to schedule his next surgery. For now, we know he will likely be out of work for a minimun of two months.

Unfortunately disability pay is not a benefit that he has. After this week, Tracy will be off work, unpaid. He has accrued $4000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses and will be missing his weekly paycheck through his healing process. My hope is that we can band together as a family (and friends) to help support Tracy in this time of need. He has been an incredibly hard working man, and caring husband to my mom, over the last two decades that I've known him. If anyone deserves help in this life, its Tracy! He is kind, generous, and would help anyone at anytime if asked.

Thank you for your consideration!
