I am a 36 year old single mother to 7 year old Nyla who is the founder/Ceo of Nyla's WAY. Her own non profit organization feeding the homeless.
In May 2021 I found a lump in my right breast while on vacation celebrating my birthday. I went to the doctors to have many test and procedures done. The call no one expects to get, I did! On August 3, 2021 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in my right breast. Just a few weeks later, I recieved news that my left breast had fibroadenoma- a noncancerous breast tumor and Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia (PASH)- a benign non-cancerous breast lesion. Doctors said overtime the PASH could mutate into cancer and advised me to get a bilateral mastectomy (removal of both breast).
On November 10, 2021 I had my first surgery ever and the recovery was extremely difficult for three weeks straight which is abnormal. I was in excruciating pain and it was very difficult to just do the simple things like talk, breathe, sleep and even move.
While recovering I recieved another gut punching call. On December 15, 2021 I was told I had to do 6 months of Chemotherapy and needed to start within the next two weeks. So of course the holidays weren't the same for me but I pushed through for my daughter.
Being a single mother is hard enough and now I have to be stronger for my daughter who worries everyday about me. At 7 she'll have to watch me go through Chemo her last 6 months of 2nd grade.
I'm not working, I'm waiting for disability, I'm waiting for my life insurance, bills are falling behind, landlord raised the rent and imposing an eviction. This is all too much too much. I'm usually the one to help others and do it myself so this is very hard for me to ask for help but I'm at my worst and feeling defeated. The money will help for at least my duration of chemo. If you can find it in your heart to donate whatever you can, it'll be greatly appreciated. Any small donation is a big one and even sharing this will help.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
