Update: Its been over a month since my sister in law Christie Jo Smith and my niece Megan were in a car accident August 9th. Christie tragically lost her life in that accident. Many lives were changed forever by a single moment. Megan was severely injured and had to be airlifted to Springfield and admitted to the Neuro Trauma ICU where she remained for 3 weeks and was readmitted 1 week later for another week. Megan had multiple surgeries to repair and stabilize fractured bones, remove ruptured spleen and stop internal bleeding. Megan's closest friends were her mother Christie, and her dog Angel. She lost them both in the wreck.

Christie's husband Nate, is reeling from the loss of his wife of 30+ years, the love of his life, his helpmate and partner in all things. Yet Nate has many things to attend to with visiting Megan in the hospital which is over a hour drive each way, and caring for the youngest Bryce who is only 7 years old. Nate has put his construction business on hold so he can be at the hospital and try to work out all the insurance and bills. They have also lost a 2nd income from Christies job.

This has been absolutely earth shattering and devastating beyond words for the Smith family. Christie did so much, not only did she work as a Nurse at the hospital to provide care to so many but her family was her priority. If she was not at work she wanted to have Bryce with her. She baked fresh bread, loved gardening and managing the household. Christie did the bookkeeping and ran errands for Nate's business. She was a member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church and active in the community. She was on the Missouri Stream Team that cleans rivers of trash. She was an only child and her mother is devastated beyond imagining.

Anything you feel led to give will be used to help cover current and future medical costs for Megan and funeral expenses for Christie.

We appreciate ALL that the community has done thus far, the Pastor of their church and other family and friends who have moved heaven and earth to help them. This is the official and only fund set up for them.
