Great Britain Students hope to be attending the World University Games in Changchun, China in January 2027. Student athletes can attend the games every two years and are supported by British Universities Ice Hockey (BUIHA) and British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).

For each team sent to the games, the cost for attending is in the region of £60,000 and the BUIHA try to support attending with both a women’s and a men’s team. The programme delivers a clear pathway to support student athletes development both during and after their time within the GB Ice Hockey programme with a number of players participating at Senior World Championship level after participating in the programme.

Student athletes are supported in the lead up to the games through a national development programme funded by British Universities Ice Hockey over each two year cycle. The programme includes local competition against NIHL and WNIHL teams in addition to the annual showcases against International All Stars select team of student athletes.
