My name is Hussam Fathi Sobhi Alhaj Ahmad
I am a father of four children: Layan, Yazan, Zaid, and Ghaith.
I am writing this as a father who never imagined he would one day have to ask strangers for help just to keep his children alive. We are an ordinary family from Gaza whose life was completely destroyed by war. Today, we are not living — we are simply surviving, day by day.
Although the fighting has slowed, our suffering has not ended.
We are still living in a displacement tent, exposed to cold nights, extreme heat, and constant fear.
There is no real shelter, no privacy, no safety. A tent cannot protect children. It cannot give them rest or peace. Every sound at night wakes them up. Every day feels uncertain.
During the war, we were forced to flee more than seven times.
Each time, we left behind what little we had, running only to save our lives.
Even now, we are not settled anywhere. We live with the fear of being forced to move again at any moment. There is no stability, no sense of belonging, no place we can call home.
Our home was completely destroyed.
Our only source of income was lost.
I went from being a working father with dreams and plans, to someone who cannot even provide bread for his children. There are no job opportunities, no way to rebuild, and no future to work toward inside Gaza
There are days when my children go to sleep hungry.
Not because I don’t want to feed them — but because I simply can’t.
As a father, nothing is more painful than seeing hunger in your child’s eyes and having empty hands. I see fear, exhaustion, and sadness on their faces — emotions no child should ever carry
My children have been without proper education for nearly two years.
Schools were destroyed, closed, or unsafe. There is no stable learning environment. Their future is slipping away day by day. Childhood is being stolen from them, and education — their only path forward — has been taken by war.
I was once a man with ambition, plans, and hope.
Today, I feel that there is no future left in Gaza.
No matter how strong my will is, there are no opportunities here. No work, no education, no safety. Staying means watching my children’s future disappear slowly.
I am not asking for luxury or comfort.
I am asking for time — before it’s too late.
Every day we stay here, my children lose more of their health, education, and hope. Leaving as soon as possible is the only chance we have.
I am raising €40,000 to help my family of six leave Gaza safely through the Rafah border and reach Europe.
The coordination cost is approximately €4,700 per person, totaling €28,200.
The remaining funds will cover travel, accommodation, flights, and basic needs during our first weeks in safety.
This is not just a donation request.
This is a father asking for help to save his children.
Even the smallest donation or share can change our lives.
Thank you for reading our story and seeing us as human beings.
Your kindness may be the reason my children survive and live with dignity.
With sincere gratitude,
Hussam Fathi Al-Hajj Ahmad
