I’m Hala, a 16-year-old girl from Gaza.

I lost my father in the war—he was martyred while trying to get us a loaf of bread.

Since that day, I became responsible for my sick mother and my little sister, Jouri, who is only 7.

We live under the sound of bombings, the shadow of famine, and hearts full of fear and hunger.

We have no food, no source of income, not even electricity.

Every day, Jouri wakes up and asks,

“Sis… do we have bread today?”

And I can’t answer.

I’m not asking for much…

I just want to save my sister from hunger, and let my mother live with dignity.
