Gaynor's Head Shave - For Reuben's Retreat

On Monday 28th March 2022 at 5:30pm I am going to have my head shaved for charity to raise funds for Reuben’s Retreat (charity no 1150436) an AMAZING charity who support our Grandson Jasper.

Jasper is six years old and suffers from a rare and complex form of Epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome.

Jasper was a happy 4 year old boy, meeting all his milestones and was a gorgeous cheeky little monkey. On the 2nd March 2020, just before lockdown Jasper had a major seizure which lasted in excess of two hours and although he was in hospital at the time, the Drs and Consultants could not control the seizure and unfortunately he was ventilated and transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital where he spent 2 weeks in intensive care.

Unfortunately, when Jasper eventually woke up it soon became apparent that he was a very different little boy. He had lost his ability to speak, sit up unaided, stand or feed and was totally dependent upon his parents. As you can imagine his parents and the family were absolutely devastated.

It has now been almost two years since Jasper’s major seizure and although he still cannot walk, sit up, talk or eat (he is now tube fed) we are all loving the new Jasper very much, he always has a BIG smile for everyone.

Reubens Retreat have supported Jasper and the family during this difficult time and continue to do so. They don’t just support the child, but the whole family and the support they provide is beyond AMAZING.
