On Saturday the 18th of August Michael, Gayle, Weston and Riley's beautiful home caught on fire. Thankfully no one was home and Michael arrived home in time to get their beloved golden retriever Cisco out of the house. The entire upstairs (bedrooms) were completely destroyed, the kitchen and living areas were ruined from water damage. In less than 9 hours all they had were the clothes on their backs. Their furniture, one-of-a-kind special mementoes and personal belongings are all gone. The most valuable and precious gift of each other were safe, this was all that mattered. Nevertheless, this is a horrific ordeal I hope none of you have ever experienced or had family/friends affected by. I have created a GoFund MePage because they need added support as this is a special circumstance and we are their village.
Many wonderful loving friendsand the supportive community of Sherborn has already stepped in to lend a hand until they can figure out their next move. The adjusters, starting from scratch, this is all happening before Riley starts at a new school. Gayle had left her job to pursue her Masters in Social Work at BC. Now she is going to have to defer her dream in order to deal with rebuilding their home.
I can not think of two people who are more grateful for the gift of life than Michael and Gayle. Weston is a reminder everyday that life is precious. Gayle was working as a liaison between parents and physicians/nurses at the Brigham's in the NICU with hi-risk babies. Recently, Michael tragically lost his dad and Uncle suddenly to cardiac emergencies. Michael and Gayle lean on each other and draw strength from their faith to be the hub and support system for both of their families and countless friends near and far. Now they need to lean on us as life has unfortunately tested them again.
However you find solace, just the fact you’re reading this is a triumph. Michael and Gayle would never want me to reach out. There is only going to be so much insurance will cover. If one of us was in this situation G & M would be on the front line of an action plan.
The goal amount is our graduation year backwards. They are headed into the unknown and the fund will provide some relief for the road ahead. Please give within your means, as any and all donations are appreciated. Last, please share this post with other Schu friends and WHS classmates as no one was intentionally omitted.
Thank you :)
Stay happy and healthy my Schu friends. Sending love and gratitude.
