Sometimes life hits us in radically unexpected directions. This sums up what the Chinnes have been dealing with lately.

The Rev’d Zachariah Chinne, PhD, is an ordained minister from Nigeria who has been in ministry for over three decades. Back in Nigeria, he pastored several churches with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), where he held several leadership positions. He also taught at the Jos ECWA Theological Seminary for some years. He, his wife (Salamatu), and three children (Ebenezer, Eleazar, and Ezra) moved to the United States about nine years ago so he could pursue his PhD at Biola University. Upon successful graduation over a year ago, they settled around the Los Angeles area while discerning what and where next God would be leading them.

About three months ago, something that started with a simple headache quickly degenerated into a serious health crisis that has turned this family’s life upside down. Without going into too much detail, Dr. Chinne has recently been diagnosed with ALL cancer, which, among other things, has affected his kidneys. In the past few weeks alone, he has been admitted and readmitted several times in the ER & ICU. He is currently in the hospital receiving both dialysis for his kidneys and chemotherapy.

As you may know, such unexpected circumstances come with serious financial challenges that put strains on the family and threaten to destabilize even those with good financial standing. Dr. Chinne has been the main provider for his family with support from his hardworking wife and two adult sons.

Right now, even a fairly good health insurance doesn’t seem to provide full coverage given the situation at hand, let alone the piles of rental bills and other expenses.

I want to passionately appeal to you, your family members, and friends, to prayerfully consider supporting this family generously in any way you can as this will go a long way to provide some form of succor to them as they continue to trust God for healing and complete restoration.
